This is something that I have been wanting to do, but I wanted to wait until I had a decent amount movies up on the site.
I am looking for people who are willing to add their voice to the site by submitting movies to the "Movie Reviews" section.
The following are the rules/guidelines for submission consideration. I know it looks like a lot to follow, but most of it is pretty basic information.
-
Rules and Guidelines:
-
I reserve the right to decline any movie submission, trivia question, image, or anything else being submitted for consideration. I will reply to the submitter with what was rejected, and why.
-
Pornography movies are NOT allowed! However, images of nudity from movies are permitted, as long as they are relevant to the story. No T&A just for the sake of T&A.
-
"Date Added" indicates the date the movie is actually uploaded to the server. Not the date it is sent in to me for consideration.
-
For the time being, each movie can only be listed once. This will be relaxed once the site hits 200 movies.
-
A "Reserve List" of up to five movies will be allowed, for three months. Meaning, each person who submits movies may put a reserve on up to five movies that they wish to do, and they will be reserved for three months. After three months, the movie will be open to others. Cannot put a movie on reserve for more than three months.
-
TV movies (such as "Bay Cove" or "The Day After") are permitted. Mini-series (such as "V" or "The Tommyknockers") are not permitted.
-
If you are unsure about whether a movie will be allowed, please e-mail me before proceeding. It will save a lot of time and heartache on your part.
-
Information about the movie to include:
-
Movie Title, Year of Release, Category (I reserve right to change if I feel it is better suited in another)
-
Anything unique about Video/DVD version viewed (Director's Cut, Unrated, etc.) if it is different from theatrical release.
-
Main Stars (at least the six main stars, if that many)
-
Music Composer/Writer(s) (where applicable)
-
Writer(s)
-
Producer(s)
-
Director(s)
-
Production Company(s)
-
IMDB Link
-
A brief synopsis to include on the list page.
-
Guidelines for images:
-
Images MUST be taken directly from the movie. Please no internet photos. A video capture device (like Snappy), software (like VideoWave) or a TV Tuner card work great. If you have a DVD player on your computer, you should be able to get images that way, also.
-
Images must be 640 x 480.
-
If widescreen version of the movie is available, please use that version. I will remove the black bars here, so no need to worry about that.
-
Images should be in the .jpg format. Absolutely NO .gif format, as picture quality is greatly reduced.
-
Must have at minimum twenty images.
-
Images should be numbered in some way to indicate the proper order. Preferably "Picture_1" "Picture_2" "Picture_3" etc.
-
Images must be in the order they appear in the film.
-
If you are having trouble narrowing it down to twenty images, you may include more. No more than twenty-five, please. I will narrow the quantity to twenty. Please indicate if there are specific images you wish to absolutley have on the site.
-
All images must have an ALT text included. This is the small pop-up box that appears as you move your mouse over an image. Nothing too long, please. Be sure to indicate which image the text goes with.
-
Image from the movie that shows the film title needs to be taken, per the recently (3/16/07) revamped layout. See any of the listing sections for examples.
-
Guidelines for trivia questions:
-
Minimum of ten trivia questions, maximum of fifteen (if you are having trouble narrowing it down to ten). I will narrow the quantity to ten. Please indicate if there are specific questions you wish to absolutley have on the site.
-
Questions should be listed in the order they appear in the film.
-
Questions not directly related to the movie will be dismissed.
-
Two examples of unusable questions:
-
"Top Gun" question: Tom Cruise (who played Maverick in Top Gun) divorced which famous actress?
-
"Legally Blonde" question: Which of the following movies did Reese Witherspoon NOT star in?
-
MUST include correct answer and three incorrect answers.
-
Incorrect answers should be at least a little bit challenging.
-
General information:
-
Each person must have a unique username.
-
After a set number of movies have been submitted (probably five), that person will have a unique profile page created listing the movies they submitted.
-
There is no minimum or maximum amount of movies that one must do. You can do as few as one, or as many as you like. It is completely up to you.
-
You may specialize in a certain category (Horror, Romance, Sci Fi, etc.) if desired. But it is not required. Diversity is the spice of life.
-
Written reviews of films are entirely up to the person submitting the movie. If included, they will appear at the bottom of the page, so as not to interfere with the overall layout of the site.
-
Feel free to give the movie a rating (one to five stars). These ratings will appear on the movie review page at the bottom.
-
The submitter's name or username will be listed on each of the category pages with the appropriate movie.
-
No HTML knowledge is required. I can take care of all that here on this end. However, I will be more than happy to send the HTML template if you would like to code it yourself, along with basic info on what goes where.
-
Best bet is to upload images to an online picture hosting site (examples: Village Photos & Image Shack), then send me the link. If e-mailing them, please send in a ZIP file, if at all possible.
-
I'm always looking for new ideas to include on the site. If you have any great ideas, don't hesitate to suggest them. A page will be set up crediting those whose ideas have been used.
-
When this section grows large enough, it will be spun off into its own unique site. I'm thinking somewhere between 300-500 movie listings.
